MyMessages™ -
Prepare Final Messages
If somehow you knew that you were about to suddenly pass away, are there
any messages that you wish you could communicate to your family or friends?
Do you have any important information you would like to be communicated after
you are gone? For example, you may want to tell someone how much you loved
them, or what you really thought about them. Or you might want to pass on
some instructions, send an expression of thanks to people who influenced your
life, or admit to a skeleton in your closet.
What about your secrets? Everyone has secrets. Some you
will take with you to the grave. Others, you may have always wished that
there were a way to communicate them once you're gone. Perhaps there is
information that you would not want people to know while you are still alive,
but would love to be revealed after your passing.
It is for these reasons and more that the MyMessages™ service exists.
We take care of delivering your messages to their intended recipients
after you have passed away. With MyMessages™, you can write messages
to your family, friends, colleagues or even strangers. We take care of
delivering them to your recipients once they are released by your designated
Keyholder® after you have passed away. In the movies, such messages are
included at the reading of the Will. In reality, the Will is usually too
formal or too public a document to express such feelings of emotion and so these
messages are typically never passed on.
You can prepare text messages, but why stop there? If you wish,
you can even attach a document or send voice, pictures or video messages.
Let your imagination be your guide for how you wish to be remembered. At
the appropriate time, your designated Keyholder® will unlock this information to
release your messages for delivery to their intended recipients.
Your messages are completely private. Due to the secure
encryption methods used to store your information at
LegalWills.ca, no one
can see what you've written, not even your designated Keyholder® nor anyone at
LegalWills.ca.
The only people that will ever see the messages are you
and your specified message recipients.
You can make unlimited updates for the rest of your life. You
can keep your prewritten, unsent messages with
LegalWills.ca
for your entire
life, updating them whenever you please. You never have to worry about a
loved one stumbling across a secret note that is intended for them, but not
quite yet. We take care of informing your friends and family where your
final messages are located, so that they can "unlock" them from anywhere in the
world after you have passed away.

MyMessages™ - Frequently Asked Questions
The content of your messages is entirely up to you. A message could be
a declaration of feelings for a person, instructions to your next of kin,
communication of a secret, or admission of a past transgression. This
service is available for you to use exactly how you please, although you should
keep in mind the reactions and feelings of the recipients.
The format of the message can be simple text, or you can attach files such as
a document, photo, graphic, video or audio. The MyMessages™ service will
guide you through the process of creating these messages. Your messages
will only be emailed to their intended recipients after you have passed away
and after your designated Keyholder® unlocks the information (without ever
seeing the contents of your messages).
You can send messages to anybody with a valid email address. We do not
currently support the delivery of messages using postal mail or courier
services.
You will designate trusted Keyholders® who will be assigned a secure ID and
password. At the appropriate time the Keyholder® will request the release
of your messages. As soon as this request is received, we will
automatically send a notification to your email address and you will be given an
opportunity to block the release of these messages. If, after a period of
time determined by you, we have received no order to block the distribution,
then the messages will be sent.
It is important that you choose Keyholders® whom you trust. Although
safeguards are in place to prevent the premature distribution of your messages,
you should not expect any of your Keyholders® to request the release of your
messages before the appropriate time.
All of your information stored at LegalWills.ca
is safe and secure.
Your information is so highly encrypted that nobody has access to this
information other than yourself and your trusted Keyholders® using their
randomly generated personal key. Even the owners and administrators of
LegalWills.ca
are not able to view your messages due to the software design
and encryption methods used.
All data passing from your computer to LegalWills.ca
is authenticated and
encrypted using 128-bit "SSL encryption". This is the most advanced level
of encryption available today, and it means that any information sent from your
computer is scrambled in a way which makes it completely unintelligible if
intercepted. When you are on a secure section within the web
site, a padlock will appear at the bottom of your web browser's screen.
This is your assurance that the encryption is in place and that you are
communicating across a secure link.
Furthermore, LegalWills.ca
uses an industry standard high security
streaming-encryption algorithm known as "RSA" to encrypt all of your information
before it is stored online. To give you a feeling for the level of
security provided by this encryption, it has been estimated that with the most
efficient algorithms known to date, it would take a computer operating at 1
million instructions per second over 300 quintillion years (that's 3 with 20
zeros behind it!) to break the encryption. That's several trillion times longer
than the age of the Earth.
All of our data is securely stored in a highly encrypted format on database
servers. To protect against catastrophic data loss, daily backups are
performed on each of our servers. Hence, if
any one of our servers experienced technical difficulties, the data would not be
at risk.
Furthermore, physical protection of our primary systems includes:
- Fire detection and fire suppression systems with dry pipe pre-action
sprinkler systems
- N + 1 redundant power supplies, providing dual power feeds and backup
batteries, water coolant systems and generators
- N + 1 redundant climate control, providing primary and backup chiller
units, cooling towers, and water storage
- Local network operations center (NOC) for monitoring all data center
operations
- 24x7 monitoring and support of network connection and server
availability
- 24x7 uniformed guard service with interior and exterior closed-circuit
television surveillance
- Electronic access at all data center entrances, including biometric hand
scanners
- Electronic key management systems and individually keyed cabinets
As you can see, we take the security and privacy of all of our member
information very seriously.
The MyMessages™ service allows you to create text messages, and to store them
securely at LegalWills.ca
until it is time for them to be delivered to their
recipients. Before then, you can add, modify or delete messages at any
time. You can also designate your own personal "Keyholders® ", who with
their unique ID can release your private messages for delivery at the
appropriate time.
These services are all available
completely FREE for 1 year. Should you need extra space
for storing your messages, additional space can be purchased for a nominal fee.
See our Prices page for more details.
